To honor the priceless contribution Dr. Kelly Rada made to the movement for the protection and humane treatment of cats, Alley Cat Allies has made a $500 memorial donation to the Dr. Kelly Rada “Spay It Forward” Memorial Fund.

Dr. Rada served as Medical Director for Humane Ohio, a low-cost spay/neuter clinic and 2011 National Feral Cat Day® Award recipient that has done outstanding work on behalf of feral cats. Dr. Rada devoted her career to reducing the number of animals killed in our nation’s shelters, and during just two short years at Humane Ohio neutered 11,020 animals. In her free time, she helped feral cats by doing Trap-Neuter-Return. Dr. Rada’s selfless efforts to improve cats’ lives through spay/neuter and TNR embodies Alley Cat Allies’ mission to protect the lives of all cats, not just the ones that share our homes.

In the wake of her passing on September 24, 2012, Humane Ohio instituted the Dr. Kelly Rada “Spay It Forward” Memorial Fund to carry on Dr. Rada’s humane work. These funds will support spay/neuter and veterinary care for feral cats, provide transportation funds for a veterinary student to study spay/neuter, and establish a memorial garden in Dr. Rada’s honor.

While we are heavy hearted that animals have lost a passionate advocate and ally, we are grateful to be able to support her legacy.
