Every year, cities and communities across the U.S. round up millions of healthy cats, take them to shelters, and kill them. An astounding 70 percent of all cats and kittens in our shelter system are killed.

And it could get worse. Supporters of this cruel practice are spreading misinformation to try to slow down the adoption of humane policies for cats. Authors of a recently published, biased literature review grossly exaggerate the potential rabies threat from catsand call for catching and killing even more cats.

Catch and kill is inhumane and has failed for decades. And there has not been a single documented case of cat-to-human rabies transmission in nearly 40 years.

There’s a better approach. Communities across the country are adopting Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). TNR humanely and effectively stabilizes cat populations and allows cats to live out their lives without new litters of kittens. TNR always includes rabies vaccinations.

Alley Cat Allies has been leading the charge for TNR since our founding in 1990, but we need your help to stop the killing. Stand with us in support of Trap-Neuter-Return and call for an end tot he senseless killing of cats.
