How did you meet your cat?

After finally finding a pet-friendly apartment, I adopted Mochi from Anne Arundel County Animal Control on January 9, 2011, since that is where my boyfriend adopted his cat. Once I saw that little gray kitten in the bottom cage and was allowed to hold and play with him in the visitation room, I knew we were meant to be. Mochi was originally named “Snow Cap” but I changed his name after noticing the very tip of his tail was whitejust like a mochi ball!

How does the love of your cat inspire you in your work at Alley Cat Allies?

I’ve always loved cats, but my love for Mochi inspires me to do my best work at Alley Cat Allies, helping spread the message that ALL cats deserve care and protection.

What are your cat’s likes or dislikes?

Mochi loves boxes of all shapes and sizes, doing high jumps to catch his toys mid-air, and is currently obsessed with his newest toya catnip-filled banana. He dislikes having to wait for his breakfast. He lets me know he’s hungry at 4 a.m. by jumping on my nightstand, batting at my lamp, and knocking things on the ground until I wake up.

Any funny anecdotes that makes your cat unique?

Mochi loves playing in the bathtub (but only when it’s dry!) He’ll bring a toy from the living room, hop in the tub, and go nuts! He also loves to spin around and chase his tailbut only in the bathtub!
