The Virginia House of Delegates passed a dangerous bill that would encourage the impoundment of any cat who is outdoors. This dangerous bill is now in the Senate.

Virginia residents: Ask your State Senator to oppose the Cat Impoundment bill, HB 1565!

This bill is written specifically to target cats. It would authorize animal control officers to seize and impound cats whenever a property owner complains, regardless if the cat at issue is the source of the complaint. Both community cats and people’s pets could be impounded, even if they wander for a short period of time.

Another billthe Community Cat Bill, SB 693is being targeted by groups who want outdoor cats killed. The bill has moved on to the House, and we need it to pass. Virginians, please also take action now to support the Community Cat bill, SB 693.

On a good note, the Promote Adoptions bill, SB 1381, is on its way to the House for a vote. Residents of Virginia, please ask your Delegate to support it.

Thanks for all you do on behalf of cats!
