Virginia’s busy legislative session continues. Here’s the latest:

Yesterday, a subcommittee voted to approve the Promote Adoptions bill, SB 1381, which would guarantee that private animal shelters are operated to promote adoptions. The next vote for SB 1381 is TOMORROW morning (Wednesday, February 18, 2015) in the full Agriculture committee. It’s critical that you contact your state Delegate TODAY and ask them to support this lifesaving bill. Take Action »

The Cat Impoundment bill, HB 1565 was approved by a Senate committee last week and now moves to the Senate floor. This dangerous bill specifically targets cats and would encourage the impoundment of any cat who is outdoors. Please ask your Senator to oppose this bill. Take Action »

We are disappointed to report that legislators voted down the Community Cat bill, SB 693. Although this bill would have removed barriers to locality-run Trap-Neuter-Return programs, rest assured that private citizens and organizations may continue to perform TNR.

Virginia residents, please continue to speak on behalf of the cats. We are their voice!
