The City of Gainesville, Texas is making great progress toward ensuring local policies reflect the community’s humane values.

After meeting with Gainesville officials we’re excited to report that the city is considering a Trap-Neuter-Return program to address their community cat population. On Tuesday, March 3, the city council took the first steps to enacting the program. While the details still need to be worked out in order to maximize the benefits to the community, we applaud the council’s rapid progress and commitment to this cause.

Every day communities are becoming aware that Trap-Neuter-Return is the humane, effective approach to community cats, and learning how to launch programs locally. We’re happy that Gainesville is on their way to embracing TNR now that they have more information on community cats and Trap-Neuter-Return.
