Great news for cats in Gainesville, Texas! On March 17, the Gainesville city council approved a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) ordinance by a vote of 6-1. This TNR ordinance is a fantastic step forward for the city of Gainesville and the result of collaborative efforts by everyone involved.

This TNR ordinance will go a long way toward protecting and improving the lives of cats in Gainesville. Alley Cat Allies will be providing $15,000 in spay and neuter funding to help launch the new program. While some of the details are still being worked out, Alley Cat Allies is committed to working with local groups and the city of Gainesville to make the TNR program a success.

We are so excited about this positive outcome for the cats. We are grateful to the mayor, the city manager, and the city council for creating a law that matches the values of Gainesville’s residents, and for the outpouring of support for community cats and their caregivers.
