We’re happy to announce that Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe has signed SB 1381 into law. Earlier this month Virginia Senators and Delegates passed the Promote Adoptions Bill, SB 1381, by a landslide. Now, with Governor McAuliffe’s signature it’s official.
This law clarifies the definition of a private animal shelter to ensure that each shelter is “operated for the purpose of finding permanent adoptive homes for animals.” This clarification would guarantee all private animal shelters are operated for the purpose of adoption, as we all expect them to be.
