The Frankfort Board of Commissioners is considering a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) ordinance, but they are already hearing from opponents who are spreading misinformation about cats and TNR. Frankfort, Kentucky Residents: Urge the Frankfort Board of Commissioners to adopt the TNR ordinance!

In a Trap-Neuter-Return program, community cats are humanely trapped, brought to a veterinarian to be neutered, vaccinated, and eartipped (the universal sign of a neutered and vaccinated cat).
Unsocialized cats are returned to their outdoor home, while socialized cats and kittens are fostered and adopted. In addition to ending the breeding cycle, TNR makes the cats healthier and ends mating behaviors, which reduces calls to animal control.

TNR works, and over 500 communities have already embraced it. Outdated policies, like catching and killing cats, are not only cruelthey just don’t work. Evidence shows that only TNR is effective and humane.
