UPDATE: April 24, 2015 – The Bedford, Texas Police Department has closed the case due to no leads. Alley Cat Allies is pursuing other avenues to seek justice for this case of cruelty. Meanwhile, we’re happy to report that Bobbi continues to recover and is now available for adoption.

In Bedford, Texas two kittens–one black and one tabby–were found behind a strip mall, severely and purposely mutilated.

One of the kittens was so severely injured that he had to be euthanized. The second kitten, Bobbi, is recovering after intensive surgery. The kittens who were victimized are estimated to be just eight months old.

Alley Cat Allies has offered to pay for Bobbi’s medical care and the necropsy of the deceased kitten in order to assist the investigation. We’re also offering a $7,500 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this horrific act of violence.

This gruesome incident is cause for alarm for the community’s safety. Psychiatric and criminological research has established a relationship between cruelty to animals and a host of other violent behaviors toward peopleanimal cruelty must be taken seriously.
