An Austin County grand jury decided yesterday not to charge Kristen Lindsey, the veterinarian who posted a picture of herself on Facebook holding a cat by an arrow through the cat’s head, and bragging about the kill. When the story broke last April, it shocked the nation and made worldwide headlines.

In honor of the cat killed by the veterinarian, Alley Cat Allies is holding a workshop on humane cat care and anti-cruelty laws, with a peaceful vigil to follow afterward.

This peaceful vigil will bring the community together to remember and honor the cat who was killed by a veterinarian, in direct violation of her veterinary professional oath to protect animals. We are appalled by the grand jury’s decision. We want to make it known that this community cares about cats, and wants to see them protected.
