Back in August we asked Sparks, Nevada residents to take action to protect Trap-Neuter-Return and community cats by opposing a bad ordinance. We’re happy to report that after months of taking statements and holding meetings, the city council of Sparks has voted against the ordinance that would have allowed the city to penalize community cat caregivers for providing shelter and food to cats outside.

With the support of the Nevada Humane Society, Washoe County Regional Animal Services, local activists, and supportive Sparks city council members, community cats are protected and their caregivers are safe to continue practicing Trap-Neuter-Return–the humane, effective approach to community cats.

Thanks to all the caring Sparks residents who made this victory possible!
