The City of Stafford is looking to update and amend its animal ordinance and draw up a new ordinance. On February 3, a council meeting will be held at the Stafford Civic Center for the public to discuss ordinance amendmentsincluding adding language about community cats to new ordinances.

It’s critical that Stafford residents attend the meeting and show your support for including strong, positive community cat and Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) language in the new ordinance. Encourage the council to include a definition for community cats and support TNR as the only humane, effective approach to the cat population.

Stafford residents should also ask the council to delay voting on final changes to the ordinances. The more time advocates have to give feedback, the better the chance for a positive ordinance that will protect and improve cats’ lives.

Animal advocacy groups around Stafford, including Fort Bend Pets Alive!, are bringing attention to TNR and supporting a new ordinance that will protect community cats. Join them and attend the meeting to take action for Stafford’s cats.

Stafford residents: If you can’t attend the meeting, call the city council at 281-261-3900 or email [email protected] and tell them you support including language about community cats and TNR in new animal ordinances. Remember to be as polite as possible when you’re a voice for animals.
