2/8/2016: HB 340 has now passed out of committee and will soon be heard by the full Virginia House of Delegates.

This dangerous bill would roll back the progress of the Promote Adoptions Bill that passed last year. The Promote Adoptions Bill guaranteed that private animal shelters are “operated for the purpose of finding permanent adoptive homes and facilitating other lifesaving outcomes for animals.” Some amendments were made to HB 340, but it still loosens the requirements for shelters and puts cats in danger.

If the House of Delegates passes HB 340, it will be one major step closer to becoming a law and endangering Virginia’s animals.

Virginia Residents: Ask your Delegate to to protect animals and oppose HB 340.

In Virginia’s 86th District, Delegate Jennifer Boysko is supporting HB 340 and circulating a coalition letter asking her fellow Democrats to support it as well. It’s critical that Delegate Boysko’s constituents tell her that they want her to protect animals by opposing HB 340.

Virginia 86th District Residents: Tell Delegate Boysko to rescind her support of HB 340.

If HB 340 passes, it would be a tragedy for animals in Virginia. Virginia residents, please take action today!
